A Comparison of the Effects of Augmented Reality N-Back Training and Traditional Two-Dimensional N-Back Training on Working Memory

We compared two versions of an n-back training program, differing from the graphical perspective, on effects working memory (WM) and transfer. Sixty participants were trained a traditional task (2D perspective) or augmented reality (AR) version same program. The AR was rated more engaging graphically stimulating. Pre- post-performance 2D spatial (SWM) test showed that while both groups improved, distributions improvement differed significantly between groups; group using generally easier levels SWM test. These results may be explained by fact (2D) similar than to outcome measure (in virtue its presentation). This support common demands theory transfer, which claims shared transfer tasks accounts for near-transfer improvements.
